Bai performs research in computational mathematics, numerical algorithm design and analysis, mathematical software and high-performance computing. He is particularly interested in developing numerical linear algebra algorithms for large-scale matrix computations, and high performance mathematical software for applications in computational science and engineering and data analysis.
