GGCS Faculty Mentorship & Graduate Advising Services 

Advising with GGCS Faculty Graduate Advisors

♦   Faculty mentorship is provided by our committee of faculty GGCS Graduate Advisors. These faculty are available each quarter for drop-in office hours, either via Zoom or in-person. 

♦   Each GGCS Graduate Advisor can assist graduate students with questions about courses, career planning, and finding/working with Research Advisors, and more.

  • To meet with a faculty GGCS Graduate Advisor for mentorship:

       •  Select the GGCS Graduate Advisor you'd like to meet with based on applicable topic, and availability.

Advising with GGCS Coordinators & Peer Advisors

♦   Advising with the GGCS Coordinators and Peer Advisors is also available each quarter. Graduate student advising with the GGCS Coordinators is primarily on an appointment-only basis. Any drop-in advising details will be announced each quarter.

♦   Advising with the MS Peer Advisor is available via appointment and drop-in. Drop-in Peer Advising details are announced each quarter.

  • To make an advising appointment with the GGCS Coordinators and/or MS Peer Advisor:
  • •  Follow this link to the Advising Appointment System.
     •  Select Computer Science as the office.
     •  Select PhD Student Advising or MS Student Advising as the schedule.
     •  In the Reason for Appointment field, write down any questions you’re hoping to have answered during your appointment.
     •  Click on Continue.
     •  Select a time that works for you.
    • •  If you don’t see any available times for this week, click on Next Week to check other weeks.
    • •  If all appointments are currently full, please check back periodically as more appointment times are added.

  • NEW - GGCS Advising Workshops
  • GGCS will offer Advising Workshops each quarter, covering specific topics. Winter Quarter 2026 will include workshops for the MS Exam and for the MS Advance to Candidacy processes. 

    Advising Workshops are hosted by the GGCS Coordinators. Dates and details will be released to students as they become available.
