David A. Liem

As a physician-scientist in cardiology, Dr. Liem's main interest and focus has been in translational medicine combining basic translational cardiovascular research with Computational Biology. He has an expertise in cardiovascular pathophysiology in heart attacks (ischemia-reperfusion injury) and cardiomyopathies and heart failure (HFrEF, HFmEF, HFpEF).  Over the past 5 years, Dr. Liem has worked on computational biomedicine and Text Mining to uncover molecular (multi-omics) underpinnings and biological pathways via Data Science and Bioinformatics approaches. Dr. Liem is currently studying how social determinants of health affect the clinical phenotypes and outcomes in heart failure patients.
