Professor Davidson is interested in fundamental research to extend the capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI). This involves developing areas of AI to widen its application such as explainable AI, fairness in AI, learning to learn and combining symbolic and sub-symbolic AI. He works with others to apply his work to novel problems of social importance. Recent applications include neuroscience, intelligent tutoring systems and tests of general intelligence.
